Apple iPhone 5 Event Planned for October 4th

Apple is reportedly planning to hold its iPhone 5 media event on October 4th, according to AllThingsD.
While Apple could certainly change its plans anytime, sources said that the Oct. 4 date has been selected by the company to showcase the iPhone 5. Sources added that the plan is now to make the new device available for purchase within a few weeks after the announcement.
The site also notes that the event will also be important for Apple since it will be Tim Cook's first big product introduction and will affect public perception of the new CEO. Apple SVP of Worldwide Product Marketing Phil Schiller, iOS SVP Scott Forstall, and SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue, will be there to lend Cook a hand.
Apple has yet to officially confirm the event; however, AllThingsD is very confident in their sources.

iPhone 5 Rumor Roundup [video]

Yeasterday we posted a iPhone 5 website leaked, but we still can't be sure that is the real one leaked from Apple, The folks over at Nowhereelse.fr have put together a pretty awesome iPhone 5 rumor roundup. This video goes through all of the major iPhone 5 rumors in a quick and intriguing way. The likelihood of each rumor is given a percentage so that you can get a good idea of what the iPhone 5 will be like.
Check out the video after the jump…

This iPhone 5 Concept Really Change Everything

We have seen so many gorgeous iPhone concet on iPhone 5 Special Page, but I can promise you've never seen such different iPhone design concept ever. Honestly I'm sick and tired of seeing everyone creating the same edge to edge screen device over and over again, with an 8MP camera, with or without a Home button and a 4 inch display… Alexei Mikhailov is original and brings us an iPhone 5 with an asymmetrical design.
This model integrates the screen very discretely and replaces the volume buttons with a + and – key, while the Home button is still there, but it’s almost invisible. The back side looks very much like the one of the iPhone 4 but the main idea of this device is that it has a more rounded side and a straight side, much like some subway passes I have seen.
The camera seems to use a dual LED flash of sorts. Imagine an iPhone 4 with an edge cut by a precision knife… Pure metal and something original at last!
Although we all know Apple never makes such thing, but this concept really is a big break though.

This iPhone 5 Design Based on Leaked iPhone 5 Case

Summary : Now, Tobi is an concept phone designer, this is his an iPhone 5 concept based on Leaked iPhone 5 Case that you can see below, pictured in the white version. Quick reminder of the latest rumors: the launch date of the new iPhone is October 7th. Excited?

Tobi proposes a more rectangular device, most likely adopting that rumored edge to edge screen and possibly sporting a bigger diagonal. This design seems very iPad-inspired, if you look at the back case especially. Another inspiration from the Apple tablet is drawn with the inclusion of the Smart Cover accessory that attaches to the device. The problem here is: do we really need this accessory?
Notice the elongated Home button area that fits in perfectly with the rumors we’ve heard, about that are being some sort of touchpad enabling gesture control that will help you browse in menus. So, what do you think of the designer’s effort?

'iPhone 5' Unboxing Video Makes Its Way To The Internet

Firstly, it looks like am iPhone 3GS, a backward step on the iPhone 4 which doesn’t correlate with Apple’s quest for thinner, lighter and slicker. It looks as though there is a plastic back cover, something that Jobs and Co have sought to eradicate recently. On the face of it, it seems to be an old concept phone, or maybe even a carefully modified 3GS.
Secondly, and I suppose most importantly, if it was indeed the iPhone 5, why hasn’t the guy switched the device on in order to give us that all-important hands-on exclusive? A world exclusive from the world’s most valuable company and you don’t even show us how it works?
Additionally, it is nowhere near shady or secretive enough to fall in line with the majority of early leaks of this nature. The guy would be in the firing line if he was actually caught showcasing an Apple product a month before the release date, and thus wouldn’t want to show his face or reveal himself. Just as with the photo we showed you last month of somebody allegedly carrying an unseen iPhone – in which the face of the supposed owner was obscured to spare him potential lawsuits. So I’m afraid despite the efforts in trying excite the on looking tech world, those behind this "leak" will need to get back to the drawing board.
So long as the real thing isn't exposed early, I'm sure Apple will be more than happy with the attention it is currently getting. I'm sure many would be excited if the final release looked like this, although they are merely professional designs based on rumor, so we will have to see.
